KINGSTON, Jamaica – Twenty-seven Jamaicans, led by two-time Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown, will be in action at the New York Diamond League Saturday, the third stop in the14-meet series.

Among the most-anticipated event is the women’s 400m which will feature the last two Olympic champions, American Sanya Richards-Ross, British athlete Christine Ohurougu and World champion Amantle Montsho.

The quarter-mile event will also see Jamaicans Shericka Williams, Novlene Williams-Mills, Christine Day, Patricia Hall and Sophia Smellie compete.

The men’s equivalent will also see five Jamaicans competing, Dewayne Barrett, Ricardo Chambers, Allodin Fothergill, Riker Hylton and Nicholas Maitland. Americans Jeremy Wariner, a former Olympic champion, and Tony McQuay will also run.

Campbell-Brown is expected to continue her good early-season form when she takes to the 200m with countrywomen Anneisha McLaughlin and Sherone Simpson. Olympic bronze medallist in the event DeeDee Trotter will line up against the Jamaicans, along with fellow Americans Shalonda Solomon and Bianca Knight.

The women’s shorter sprint will feature Trinidad and Tobago’s World championship bronze medallist Kelly-Ann Baptiste up against Jamaican veteran sprinter Aleen Bailey and Tianna Madison, one-fourth of the American team that broke the sprint relay world record at the London Olympics last year. A third Jamaican, Schillonie Calvert is also down to compete.

Two members of Jamaica’s winning men’s Olympic sprint relay team Kemar Bailey-Cole and Nesta Carter will go in the 100m, as well 2012 Diamond League winner Nickel Ashmeade, Jacques Harvey and Kevin Thompson. They will however find the going tough when they face world-leader Tyson Gay, who has already run 9.85 seconds this season.

Jamaica will have one representative in each of the hurdles event. National champion Leford Green will run in the 400m hurdles while Dwight Thomas will go in the 110m hurdles.
