I always try to recycle and reuse my bottles by refilling them with water, etc. I always use garbage bins instead of throwing garbage through windows or on the road.

Leeroy Fagan, 54 – Solar Technician

Where I work we provide solar energy, so I’m contributing to environmental sustainability by using solar energy. I also practise conservation of water, recycling my bottles and littering is never condoned. There is not a good system in place to promote recycling, but usually I will separate my plastics from my garbage because I know that plastics are non-degradable.

Natalee Clarke, 35 – Teacher

I help the environment by not littering. I always carry a plastic bag in my purse to put my garbage in if there is no bin around and I take it home. I also separate my garbage into degradable and non-degradable items.

Kwasi Charles, 37 – Technical Manager

I contribute to environmental sustainability by not burning my garbage, not cutting down trees if it’s not necessary, and recycling my kitchen water to water the plants. As it relates to recycling plastic bottles, I think the government needs to put a system in place for that because if you don’t have the support structure for recycling our bottles, it won’t be as effective as we want it be. I also practise composting (using vegetable scraps from the kitchen to make manure) and I am currently setting up drums at home to engage in rainwater harvesting.

I help the environment by recycling and reusing. I also use reusable bags when I’m going grocery shopping and I don’t litter.
