REGGAE band Inner Circle resumes its United States tour today in San Diego, California, two days after their tour bus crashed in Louisiana.

The band is scheduled to play the Chapparal Auditorium.

According to a report from NBC affiliate television station NBC33, the Inner Circle bus crashed just outside the city of Baton Rouge at around 3:30 pm.

Jared Sandifer of the Louisiana State Police, said the tour bus “went into the median, struck the cable barrier and some of the debris from the crash struck two other vehicles.”

A blown tyre caused the crash, Sandifer said.

Band members — including original members Roger and Ian Lewis — were reportedly on the bus at the time of the incident but there were no major injuries.

“Listen man, God is good,” said guitarist Roger Lewis. “I thought the whole bus was gon’ flip and it was all gon’ be over. It was like a movie, everyting was flyin’ and turnin’. The only thing that held us from flipping was a wire. And the driver was very good, he held tight. We skid into a ravine and then crash. Somebody great was looking out for us boy, somebody great.”

Formed in 1968, Inner Circle had a number of hit songs during the 1970s when they were led by charismatic singer Jacob Miller.

Miller, who sang on popular cuts such as Everything Is Great and Tenement Yard, died in a 1980 motor accident in Kingston.

Inner Circle is best known to contemporary music fans for the 1987 smash Bad Boys, which was the theme song for the popular television show Cops.

Bad Boys peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. The 1993 album of the same name won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1994.
