Colourful start to CFW
THE 13th Caribbean Fashionweek got off to a colourful, African-inspired start Friday at the National Indoor Centre in St Andrew.
A modest turnout saw creations by 12 designers from Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Tobago, Turkey and the United States.
Among the designers who caught the audience’s eyes were American Erica Apply, Jamaican Kesi Gibson and Ozge Turan of Turkey.
Apply’s Eta Luxe stock consists of casual and formal wear for women, based on soft and earthly colours while Gibson and Turan invest a lot of colour in their pieces.
Corporate brands including energy drink company Red Bull and courier service DHL also had their moment. Their employees graced the runway in a light-hearted segment.
Following the fashion show, there was a performance from Voicemail who had fans rocking to songs like Clap it Up, Wine Up and Show It. Singjay D Major also delivered a tight set.
The CFW closes today at the same venue with a showcase of pieces from designers including Claudia Pegus, Heather Jones, Robert Young and Zadd & Eastman.
