Bolt in Oslo Diamond League 200m today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Usain Bolt will run his first 200m of the season at the Oslo Diamond League meet today.
Three other Jamaicans will compete at the meet; Marvin Anderson in the 200m, Kimberly Williams in the triple jump and Sherri-Ann Brooks in the 100m.
Bolt, the repeat triple Olympic champion, will be looking to shrug off last week’s 100m loss to American Justin Gatlin and run into form ahead of Jamaica’s National Trials for World Championships selection next weekend.
Anderson has a season’s nest of 21.04 seconds and will likely use the race to gauge his preparedness for the Trials which will be loaded with several global medallists and world leaders.
Williams, now the country’s premier triple jumper, will seek to better her personal best of 14.53 metres after a slight wind-aided performance of 14.78 m recently.
The women’s 100m will feature Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast, who last week defeated three-time 200m World and reigning Olympic champion Allyson Felix in her pet event.
The meet is set to get underway at 1:00pm Jamaica time.
