SVL commits $12m to National Trials
SUPREME Ventures Limited (SVL) yesterday has renewed its title sponsorship of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures National Junior and Senior Championships with a $12-m commitment.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, in the presence of members of the JAAA, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Jamaica Vladimir Polenov, representatives from the Track and Field fraternity, and the media.
Brian George, president & CEO of Supreme Ventures Limited, said: “Supreme Ventures’ support for local track and field started back in 2004, a mere three years after the company started its operation. During that period, track and field was not as ‘sexy’ as it is now; however, as a company we took the decision to throw our support fully behind a programme in which we saw great potential despite the fact that our athletes were not as dominant as they are now.”
JAAA President Dr Warren Blake expressed his gratitude to Supreme Ventures, stressing that sponsorship is not easy to come by these days.
“SVL has seen the potential of track and field, had faith in us and answered the call to become our title sponsor and long-term partner. Over the years that partnership has grown and commitments have been given to cover the next few years and the definite understanding is that this association will continue beyond that,” he said.
The much-anticipated JAAA/SVL National Junior and Senior Championships, which will select Jamaica’s teams to the 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held in Moscow and IAAF World Youth Championships in Ukraine, will be held on June 15-16 (Juniors) and June 20-23, 2013 (Seniors), respectively, at the National Stadium.
