Delano Williams to run for Great Britain
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Outstanding schoolboy sprinter Delano Williams has transferred his allegiance from the Turks and Caicos to Great Britain.
The 200 metres World Junior Champion attended Munro College in St Elizabeth, Jamaica and will join World record-holder Usain Bolt at the Racers Track Club later this year.
Williams is eligible to compete for Great Britain as Turks and Caicos is a British Overseas Territory.
The International Association of Athletics Federations granted Williams’ transfer last week.
He defended his Class 1 sprint double at the Boys Athletics championships in Kingston in March.
The 19-year-old has personal bests of 10.28 seconds in the 100m and 20.27 seconds in the 200m, both set this year.
