Gorgeous hair, graceful look

Gorgeous hair awaits at The Salon Hair and Scalp Clinic. This week we share tips on how to get that graceful summer look.

Jacqueline Hinkson, Retired Public Servant

Consultant Trichologist: Althea Gooden-Lawla

Hairdo: Gracefully grey trim and curl

1. Trim ends off hair to maintain any previous cut.

2. Wash hair with a neutralising shampoo.

3. Apply mousse and setting lotion.

4. Section hair and put in hair rollers to curl.

5. Sit under the dryer for approximately 40-45 minutes.

6. Brush hair to remove roller marks and style as desired.

Rosalina Brown, Caterer, A Room Full Of Roses

Hair Stylist: Audrey Williams

Hairdo: Semi-permanent colour

Spruce up your look a little with a semi-permanent colour. Applying a semi-permanent colour will give the same depth as a natural base or darker. It is used to change the tone of the hair by adding gold, copper or burgundy hues and covering grey hair.

1. Shampoo hair.

2. Mix Revlon Young Colour Excel Colour Gel with Revlon Young Colour Excel Dark Brown Toner.

3. Part hair and apply mixture from roots to enhance grey hairs.

4. Put on a steam cap and sit under the dryer for approximately 35 minutes.

5. Wash out hair twice, first with a stabilising shampoo then with a neutralizing one. Apply a neutralising conditioner to lock in moisture.

6. Blow-dry hair and use a ceramic flat iron to straighten and add flips to the ends.

Consultant Trichologist: Althea Gooden-Lawla

Hairdo: Shampoo and blow-dry

1. Wash hair with a hydrating shampoo (The Hair and Scalp Clinic’s original shampoo was used).

2. Apply mousse and setting lotion.

3. Blow-dry hair.

4. Part the hair and use a ceramic curling iron to apply drop curls.

Tip 1: Use moisturising shampoos and conditioners to help re-hydrate the hair.

Tip 2: Avoid over-using hot tools such as curling irons and blow-dryers.

Ashley Morgan, Student at St Hugh’s High School

Hairstylist: Andrea Whyte

Hairdo: Wash and press

1. Shampoo hair with a hydrating shampoo.

2. Blow-dry hair.

3. Part hair and apply Dudley’s cream press (designed to coat and protect the hair from the effects of excessive thermal or blow-dryer heat).

4. Use a ceramic flat iron to straighten and add flip curls to the ends.

Giselle Brown, Student at Quality Academics

Hairstylists: Andrea Whyte and Althea Gooden-Lawla

Hairdo: Shampoo and colour

1. Mix Revlon Professional Crème Peroxide with Revlon Professional Roux White Professional Speed Bleach powder. Adding highlights helps to remove colour pigment from hair.

2. Section hair and apply mixture to hair ends then wrap in hair foil.

3. Remove foil after two minutes and shampoo with a stabilising shampoo.

4. Apply Dudley’s red wine conditioning hair colour from roots to ends to re-deposit some colour to the hair.

5. Sit under the dryer for approximately 20 minutes.

6. Wash hair with a neutralising shampoo.

7. Blow-dry and use a flat iron to straighten the back of the hair.

8. Use a curling iron to add spiral curls to front.
