Clarendon push cart derby on today
THE Clarendon Peace and Justice Centre (CPJC) in association with the Clarendon Crime and Prevention Committee (CCPC) aims to bridge the communities in the parish of Clarendon by presenting their second annual Push Cart Derby.
Push cart operators will be given a seminar prior to the race on the proper usage and safety procedures, health-related issues, along with a sensitisation session on anger and conflict management. There have been numerous incidents of push operators not parking their push carts properly, colliding and/or damaging vehicles and hitting pedestrians when operating their push carts.
The push cart race will commence 2:00 pm today at the entry of Oliver Gardens, Seven Road, May Pen, and terminates at the May Pen Post Office, May Pen. Both male and female participants must be 18 years and over. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners from four age groups.
A presentation of awards, dance contest and concert will follow on the grounds of the Emancipation Village, formerly May Pen Police Station, Main Street, May Pen.
