Trelawny residents block Duncans/Clarks Town main road
DUNCANS, Trelawny -Scores of students in Trelawny are unable to attend classes today, as residents of Crawle and adjoining communities have blocked the Duncans to Clarks Town main road to protest the poor road conditions in the area.
According to councillor for the area Donnovan White, the road has been in a deplorable state for a very long time.
“The roadway has been in terrible condition for many, many years and despite numerous calls to the authorities nothing has been done to have it fixed,” White told the Jamaica Observer.
The residents are also joined by several taxi-operators who have withdrawn their service from the route.
“Wi fed up now. This road has not been repaired for about 30 years now. We can’t continue to operate on it. It mashing up our vehicle,” said Sydney Morris, who plies the Clarks Town to Duncans route.
