NEGRIL, Westmoreland — The Sandals and Beaches resorts in Negril feted team members and their families at their annual Back-to- School Fair and Family Fun Day held on August 29 and 30 at Sandals and Beaches, respectively.

Both events benefited more than 500 people, who were treated to a wide range of activities, including bounce-about, dunk tank, water slide, grab bags, movie room, face painting, dancing contests, among others. In addition, two lucky individuals won the Beaches Sports and Social Club (BSSC) scholarship raffles, which saw each walking away with $10,000.

“It’s a good initiative and we’re grateful for it as it definitely helps with our back-to-school preparations,” shared one team member.

“I had planned to buy an iron after leaving here, but my sister won one in the grab bag, so that’s one expense I don’t have to deal with,” she added.

There were other winners of household appliances, toys, stationery and storybooks, while all patrons received back-to-school packages with stationery.

At the Sandals Negril Fun Day, one lucky team member walked away with a brand new six-burner gas stove courtesy of a $300 raffle ticket. “I am elated. I’ve never won anything in my life before, so it feels good to know that I finally won something and it couldn’t have been a better time,” shared Esther Patrick, bartender at Sandals Negril.

The back-to-school fair and family fun day are organised annually by the Sports and Social Clubs of each resort, with the aim of helping their team members with back-to-school supplies as well as provide an outlet for them and their families to enjoy the last few “free” days of summer.
