Munro, STETHS open with a bang

APPLETON, St Elizabeth — Khesanio Hall scored a hat-trick as last season’s beaten finalists St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) opened their ISSA/LIME daCosta Cup campaign with a big 6-0 whipping of Maggotty High in the Zone E game played at the Appleton Sports Club yesterday.

Hall, who was the school’s top scorer last season, started on a high with Rushane McClymonth, Romario Thompson and Rohan Lindsay also finding the back of the net.

The other two beaten semi-finalists from last year, Manning’s School and Frome Technical, also got off to winning starts, both scoring 1-0 wins.

Tevin Daley got the game’s only goal as Manning’s edged Little London High 1-0 in their Zone D game in Sav-la-Mar, while Frome Technical edged Green Island High by the same margin at the Frome Sports Club.

Munro College, one of the favourites for the title, matched arch-rivals STETHS’ start with a 6-0 beating of Newell High. Fabian Murray scored twice for the Andrew Edwards-coached team, while Levar Dunchey, Johann Weatherly, Antonio Grey, and Rayon Williams also scored.

There were also big wins for Holmwood Technical, Spalding High, Happy Grove High, and Paul Bogle High.

Holmwood blanked Knox College 4-0 to lead Zone G on goal difference over Spalding High, who beat Alston 4-1.

Happy Grove beat Fair Prospect 5-1, while Paul Bogle High were 4-0 winners over Yallahs.

In Zone A, former champions St James High blanked Anchovy High 2-0 at Jarrett Park with goals from second-half substitutes Santino Brown, and Javoy Campbell.

Davion Williams scored in the second half as Muschett High clipped home team Herbert Morrison 1-0 in their Zone C game.
