Observer hosts Home Again premiere

HOME Again, a film about the challenges of the Jamaican deportee, premieres at the Carib Cinema in Cross Roads on Monday.

The event, which will be hosted by the Jamaica Observer, starts at 8:00 pm.

Members of the cast (actors Paul Campbell, Lyriq Bent, Brian Brown, and Kadeem Wilson), producer/writer Jennifer Holness and supervising producer Lisa Wickham are expected to attend.

Filmed in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Canada on a US$4- million budget, Home Again’s plot surrounds three persons deported from Canada, the United States and England to Jamaica, the land of their birth.

The movie is co-written by Holness, a Jamaican, and Canadian-Jamaican David ‘Sudz’ Sutherland, who is also the director. Home Again premiered at the Toronto International Festival last year.

It also stars Tatyana Ali, best known for her role as Ashley on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Ali has Trinidadian roots.

Campbell, whose credits include the films Dancehall Queen and Third World Cop plays Uncle Archie Morris. Guyana-born actress C C H Pounder, Canadian singer FeFe Dobson and Stephan James complete the main cast.

Home Again won the 2013 BAFTA Festival Choice Award at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles in February.

James and Dobson were nominated for best supporting actors at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards, while Sutherland was recently nominated for a best director award by the Directors Guild of Canada.
