Courtney Cousins’ Tasty One Pot
Street Food is one thing, Courtney Cousins’ specialty menu options of plantain and hominy corn porridge, the 3-In-One: peanut plantain and cornmeal porridge, red pea and chicken foot soups are welcome and extremely popular breakfast and lunchtime options for those not only fortunate enough to work downtown but able to purchase before the humongous pot is emptied of its tasty and nourishing fare.
The affable Cousins, who has been satisfying clients with his soup and porridge options for some three years, stirs his one pot of hominy corn and plantain porridge Monday between 7:00am and 7:45 am at Holy Family Primary School before stirring again between the hours of 8:15 and 10:30 am at the corner of Port Royal Street and John’s Lane corner.
Tuesday morning’s pot offers the ever-so-popular 3-In-One of plantain, peanut and cornmeal porridge whilst the afternoon offering is red pea soup.
Wednesday morning’s offering of hominy and plantain porridge, Thursday’s peanut, plantain and cornmeal and Friday’s chicken foot soup bring the week to a tasty close.
You’d be forgiven for following Cousins and his steaming pot around town Monday-Friday from the ICD Group of Companies, Stock Exchange, GraceKennedy to his final stop-the Air Jamaica Building on Harbour Street.
On Saturday mornings Cousins can be found at Coronation Market stocking up on the freshest ingredients and on Sundays post-pot clean-ups and church, he’s all set to start the week again.
