The fine wine scene in Kingston, Jamaica, has a fabulous new spot to enjoy a few good bottles. With just about 150 wines on its list, the recently opened Regency Bar & Lounge has something for everyone.

This Monday the Terra Nova hotel officially opened the doors to Kingston’s latest chill spot, after a hectic week of pre-launch events. What I love is the emphasis and detail that proprietor Michelle Hussey has placed on the wine programme. From the customer-facing wine cellar all the way to the customised glasses that facilitate the extra generous wine-pouring sizes only found at Terra Nova.

Wide Range of wines

A wine list is always under development; however with wines from 12 countries, made from all the major grape varietals, the list that I saw is off to a great start. I don’t think that there is any other entertainment establishment in the country where a wine lover is able to find Champagnes such as Bollinger La Grande Année, Taittinger Blanc de Blanc Comtes, Dom Pérignon Brut and Armand de Brignac Gold Brut all on one wine list.

Bollinger Night

Last week, Caribbean Producers Jamaica hosted a fantastic Champagne night featuring Bollinger that flowed non-stop all night. It was a Champagne lover’s paradise. The Regency Bar and Lounge will offer Bollinger Special Cuvée, Bollinger Rosé and very special Bollinger La Grande Année.
