Frederick Wizzard was a dedicated servant of Christ

Life Tributes

FREDERICK Ned Wizzard, late deacon of the New Haven Seventh Day-Adventist (SDA) Church, was on September 15 remembered as a dedicated servant of the Christian faith, a loving husband and a disciplined father who lived a life worth emulating.

Wizzard died 10 days before he would have celebrated his 89th birthday.

At the thanksgiving service celebrating his life, which was held at New Haven SDA Church, the Board of Deacons and Deaconesses of the church and sisters Lisa McIntosh and Cynthia Brown offered glowing tributes.

According to a compiled tribute read on behalf of the Board, Wizzard was one of the fathers and husbands of the church, who was well-respected for his family-oriented attitude.

“If all men in the world were dedicated to his wife, we would have the best husbands in the world. Brother Wizzard was a reliable deacon. What he said he would do for the church, he always did it. He has left an example for the church’s deacons and deaconesses to always do God’s work,” tribute stated.

All the deacons and deaconesses of the church were attired in white and stood to the left of the casket in tribute to their departed brother.

Wizzard’s wife, Esmin, pre-deceased him.

According to his sister, Cynthia Brown her brother, who was one of 12 children, was a hard-working man up until his retirement.

“He was a hard-working man. He and his wife worked together for their senior years in life. They built an extraordinary home. He would always encourage others to love the Lord and to work hard and achieve in life,” Brown said.

She said Wizzard loved his surname because it was also a noun that describes a skilled or clever individual.

“My brother, he loved the name Wizzard and he was proud about it. When he heard of the achievements of other members of the family or relatives, he would say, ‘That’s a Wizzard!'” she said.

“My brother, he is sleeping, but all I have to say is rest in the arms of Jesus until that great resurrection morning,” she added.

Wizzard was laid to rest at Meadowrest Memorial Park in St Catherine.
