Skunk on show at Honda Day
Skunk Nation made its international debut at Orlando, Florida’s first ever Honda Day on September 21 and 22.
“Team Skunk Nation had three cars entered, all walking away with trophies,” Nick Lue of Skunk Nation told Auto.
The three Honda Accords of Shaun Jardine, Robert Smith and Nick Perez all finished within the top 100 best cars, as Perez gained a bonus by taking second place in the 1998-newer class.
Lue was thrilled not only to attend but to participate in Javier ‘Mr Honda’ Ortega’s branded event, receiving VIP access as Ortega was in the island in July for Skunk Nation’s Import Tuner Night.
“I went to gain more experience from a first-world standpoint and push our local brand to an international level,” explained Lue.
That experience will be used to make all subsequent Skunk Nation events even better.
“It was amazing to see the participation of the crowd,” said Lue.
However, Honda Day is about the rides, and according to him there was little shortage as they came out in force with all the current trends not yet in Jamaica, such as cambered wheels, cars without bonnets, K-series engine swaps into immaculate engine bays.
There were other key elements that Lue has put under consideration to incorporate into next year’s Import Tuner Night, such as Honda Day’s modified car giveaway. The two-day nature of Honda Day Orlando 2K13 and its drag racing are a long way off locally.
“We might raffle a car at our next big event, and I think the awards section will be expanded.”
