Take heart, café lovers of downtown, Kingston. Cannonball Café has opened the doors to its fifth location at East Street. The popular eatery, known for its fine coffee brews, salads, sandwiches, soups and pizzas, is venturing outside its traditional upmarket addresses (at Manor Park Plaza, Sovereign North, the 3M complex in New Kingston and the Loshusan Barbican Centre) as the customer base dictates extend far and wide.

Tara Clivio, who runs the Cannonball franchise alongside business partner Wendy Facey, explained to Thursday Food that the opening of the downtown locale came about after Cannonball regular Bruce Levy, a partner at the Myers, Fletcher and Gordon law firm, would repeatedly urge the pair to introduce their café enterprise to the downtown’s food landscape.

The new location, which officially this past Monday, occupies some 700 square feet in the same building that houses Myers, Fletcher and Gordon, has its own space and a separate entrance. Clivio informed that Cannonball menu items top out at $1,000 and the eatery caters to the budget-conscious with $390 breakfast specials (scrambled eggs, bacon, bacon and a cup of Joe) and $500 lunches (chicken salad-, tuna salad-, and egg salad- subsandwiches served with iced tea).
