Oily substance spills on surface of lake in Brazil
BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) — Officials in Brazil’s capital say they are investigating what appears to be a large oil spill on the surface of Paranaoa Lake, a body of water ringed by embassies, restaurant and clubs.
The local environment protection agency and the Brazilian Navy say they are trying to find out what the 3-kilometre (2-mile) long slick is composed of.
Navy officials say tar used in road repair work may have spilled into the lake.
