Merciless Girlz ravage St Kitts 11-0

…Look to continue killing spree against Suriname today

Minnows again bit the dust in the 2013 CFU Women’s Under-20 Tournament as Jamaica highlighted the fourth round with an 11-0 demolition of St Kitts & Nevis 11-0 in Group B action.

Earlier, the Dominican Republic strolled past Suriname 3-0 in the first of a double-header at the Anthony Spaulding Sport Complex on Saturday. They got their goals from Winibian Judit Peralto Perez (67th minute), Diana Elizabeth Santana Tavarez (71st), Yaqueisi Alexandra Nunez Soriano (84th_.

Jamaica, playing in the feature game of the evening, wasted little time in making it clear to their opponents that they were on a mission. And after an exploratory exchange, Jamaica threw down the gauntlet with a goal in the 10th minutes courtesy of Jessica Johnson.

Two minutes later, Khadija Shaw scored the first of her two goals. The other was in the 44th. In between, Oshay Lawes, who scored the second hat-trick of the tournament, put Jamaica 3-0 up with her first in the 15th. It was a deftly crafted goal that also left the Kittian goalkeeper Quindra Estridge helpless.

Nichole Harris, who had an outstanding game on the left wing for the hosts throughout, was eventually rewarded with a superb goal scored from what seemed an impossible angle in 45th minute to give Jamaica a 5-0 cushion at the interval.

Jamaica returned to further put the squueze on theit hapless opponents by slamming in another six goals.

Playing with great presence of mind, passion and finesse throughout, Jamaica returned to continue from where they left off in the first half and were even quicker off the mark with skipper Kayla Gray coming into her own with one of two goals in the 50th minute. Lawes added her second 12 minutes later in the 62nd, while Gray also notched her second six minutes later to give Jamaica an imperious 7-0 cushion.

The Young Reggae Girlz were now in full control of the game, and underlined their ascendency once again when Lawes completed her fine hat-trick in the 69th minute. Skipper Gray missed several easy chances to increase her’s and Jamaica’s tally, but Marlo Sweatman came off the bench to make it 10-0 before Harris closed the scoring at 11-0 with a classical Ronaldinho-like chip three minutes from time.

Today, Jamaica will hunt win number two when they take Suriname, another mauling is expected. In the Group B curtain-raiser, St Kittss and the Dominican Republic will do battle.

In Group A action at the Waterhouse Mini-stadium last night night, Angulla were down to face Cuba while Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada were scheduled to do battle.
