Cornwall red hot in Under-16 football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — DEFENDING national all-island ISSA/Wata Under-16 champions Cornwall College made it two wins from two starts after beating Green Pond High 4-1 at Cornwall College on Tuesday, to stay on top of Zone A with a perfect six points.
The Leacroft Lettman coached Cornwall College opened their defence last Friday with a 7-0 thrashing of Herbert Morrison at Bogue, picking up where they left off at the end of last year when they beat Corporate Area champions Wolmer’s Boys’ 7-0 in their national play-offs.
On Tuesday, Shakorie Vassell shot Cornwall into a quick lead scoring twice in the first 15 minutes as the home team led 3-0 at half-time after Alrick Ottey scored late in the first half.
This was Ottey’s third goal of the season after he scored twice in the win over Herbert Morrison as Nicholas Lloyd Young came off the bench to score twice in a 15-minute span.
Also on Tuesday Spot Valley High beat Anchovy High 3-0 in their Under-16 game while Rusea’s were also 3-0 winners over Frome Technical.
