MIAMI, Florida– Jamaica’s hotel room stock will receive a boost next month, when Karisma Hotels and Resorts opens its 140-room Azul Sensatori Jamaica, in the resort town of Negril.

The property, which was formerly Beaches Sandy Bay, was acquired in October 2012 by the Mexican outfit Karisma Hotels and Resorts, and months later opened as Seashore Bay Beach Resort.

It was however closed in May this year to facilitate a multi-million-dollar renovation exercise.

But Rinaldo Fernandez, senior vice-president of the Travel Club Division, Karisma Hotels and Resorts, disclosed during the 15th Annual Shared Ownership Investment Conference at the Eden Roc Beach in Florida on Tuesday that the resort will be reopened on December 15 as the Azul Sensatori Jamaica.

“It will be a gourmet all- inclusive. All the restaurants will be a la carte and will have their own theme… so we will be taking the all-inclusive to a different level,” said Fernandez.

The Negril property is Karisma’s first expansion outside Mexico, although the brand enjoys worldwide recognition for its exclusive “gourmet-inclusive” service.

“Jamaica is the fourth largest market in the Caribbean in terms of the inflow of tourists, and of all the areas in Jamaica, Negril is the fastest growing tourist area and it probably has one of the most beautiful beaches that I have seen. It is just spectacular,” Fernandez later told the Caribbean Business Report.

The facility will cater to singles, couples and families.
