Chimney Records releases Rising Sun
JAMAICAN production duo, David Hayle and Jordan McClure of Chimney Records, caps off another successful year with their latest release, the Rising Sun Riddim.
The riddim continues Chimney’s streak of contemporary reggae releases, featuring singles by Tarrus Riley, Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid, Jah Cure, Zagga, Tessanne Chin, Singing Sweet and Kibaki, I Octane, Demarco, Christopher Martin, Kelissa, and Bramma.
Speaking on their project, Jordan McClure of Chimney Records expressed that: “The Rising Sun Riddim is an acoustic-guitar-driven production, with one drop reggae influences, but a modern touch to appeal to both older and younger listeners alike. The instrumentation has an uplifting and happy vibe, which translated into artistes naturally choosing to write songs of inspiration or love to the sounds we created.
McClure continued to speak on one of the many highlights of the Rising Sun Riddim, the Afro-centric positive number Mi Alright, by Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid:
“We believe in the continued development of the reggae and dancehall industry. It was great to have on our project, Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid, two members of the Zinc Fence and Bebble Rock music movements respectively, who are now amongst the leaders of the Jamaica music industry.
“We have always had a good chemistry with both Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid. They were on our Tropical Escape Riddim last year. It felt natural to blend their unique sounds and talents with our contemporary reggae production used in the Rising Sun Riddim, and we’re happy for the inspiring song that was the final result.”
Other motivational numbers that persons can look out for on the riddim are Tessanne Chin’s Anything’s Possible, Jah Cure’s Better Way, My Day by Tarrus Riley, and Yes I Can by Christopher Martin.
Chimney Records’ flagship artiste, Zagga, makes a big splash on the project with his moving My Destination.
Demarco tackles social commentary with It’s Not Right, while Kelissa highlights societal breakdown in civics through her song Slow Down.
Lovers will find tales of adoration in We Found Love by I-Octane and Bramma’s Wah Gwan Mi Darling.
The other collaboration is Kibaki and Singing Sweet’s inner-city eye opener One More Day.
The Rising Sun Riddim is available for download on iTunes, and includes the riddim’s 11 songs, and also the instrumentation by Chimney Records.
