Two mowed down in Oracabessa, die in hospital
TWO persons died as a result of injuries they sustained in a motor vehicle crash in Oracabessa, St Mary on Tuesday.
They are 55-year-old Ronald Wickett, a Canadian national, and 75-year-old Daphne Livermore of Stewart Town, St Mary.
The Oracabessa police reported that about 4:15 pm Wickett and a friend were sitting on his parked motorcycle talking with Livermore when the driver of a Toyota Levin motor car travelling from Port Maria towards Ocho Rios, St Ann, apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the three.
A passer-by assisted them to hospital, where Wickett and Livermore died. The third person, who is also a Canadian national, was admitted in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the motorcar fled the scene and was yesterday urged by the police to turn himself/herself in. In addition, the police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them at 975-3233, 119 or the nearest police station.
