Muschett, Cornwall seek wins in school basketball
SPOT VALLEY, St James — Defending champions Muschett High and Cornwall College will seek to maintain perfect win records today as the Under-19 section of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference Boys Basketball competition continues with two double headers.
Muschett High lead the Under-19 section with six points from three wins and will travel to Spot Valley for two games, while Cornwall, winners of two games, will travel to William Knibb Memorial in Martha Brae, Trelawny.
In the Under-16 section, Cornwall who have won once and lost the other game, will start favourites to beat William Knibb, while the Spot Valley vs Muschett game is expected to go to the wire.
Spot Valley have won three games in the Under-16 section and lead with six points, while defending champions Muschett have lost one of their three games and are on five points.
In the Under-19 games, William Knibb rebounded from a bad opening loss to trounce Herbert Morrison Technical by 40 points on Monday and will face a confident Cornwall College team coming off a comfortable win over Spot Valley.
Muschett will also have the slight advantage over Spot Valley, but the home team will hope they can rebound from their loss to Cornwall College and peg back the champions.
Muschett are coming off an easy win 68-51 win over Holland High on Wednesday, with the teams combining for 52 points in the final quarter.
Michael Schloss scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, along with nine steals, to lead Muschett as Djair Bulgin also scored 10 points, while Kenrick Lindo scored 21 points for Holland.
