Princess Popstar to win easy
The ninth running of the Supreme Ventures-sponsored Pick-3 Challenge trophy, the second race in a series of three for two-year-olds, comes with very special interest tomorrow.
The race marks the return of the Adore The Gold filly, Princess Popstar, to the race track. This filly is something really special based on her record of two wins from two starts this season. In her first race Princess Popstar won by 19 lengths over the five-round course, but even more dramatic was her recorded time of 59.1 seconds, a time which older horses in much higher company would struggle to achieve.
Then in her second run, without even breaking a sweat, ‘Princess’ waltzed away from rivals, this time over six furlongs, and again her time of 1:10.4 minutes was something to behold. Her trainer Philip Feanny has called for the services of his long-standing and most reliable jockey Winston Griffiths who on Saturday last, when riding Kipling Weekend for Feanny, produced a master class of riding. Percy Williams did duties on Princess Popstar when she ran her first two races. Princess Popstar, according to Feanny, has progressed well and he expressed confidence for a successful run.
If Princess Popstar is to be rivalled tomorrow, the possible threat will more than likely come from Insane Bolt trained by Wayne DaCosta. Insane Bolt is the winningest juvenile so far this season, with three victories. He is developing nicely but after been beaten by over nine lengths by ‘Princess’, it would be a very brave punter who would back him to beat the filly. Yet this is racing which is always filled with uncertainties, and as they always say “the race has to be run.” It might be wise to place Insane Bolt as almost a certain quinela or exacta.
Of the others, Bubbling Angeline, a stablemate of Princess Popstar debuted in style, winning easily, but her time for six furlongs was almost four seconds slower than her more illustrious barn mate. Israelite and Gaga Lady are the duo who will also vie for third position which is where the competition in this trophy race will be.
Princess Popstar is predicted to be very lonely at the finish line.
