‘Idol’-ising Tessanne
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Tessanne Chin delivered two top-6 performances on NBC’s The Voice Monday, which caught the attention of American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert. Idol, which shares similarities with The Voice, has undoubtedly inspired the latter. Clarkson won the first season of Idol and remains the most successful of the lot – selling millions worldwide. The Grammy award winner appeared to be blown away by Chin’s voice when she enthusiastically posted a series of tweets; one of which solicited a response from Chin:

‘Idol’ runner-up and multiplatinum-selling artiste Adam Lambert is known for incorporating theatrical elements into his performances. This helped to land him the prestigious job as Queen frontman. He was seemingly captivated by Chin’s vocals when he tweeted:

Chin performed two songs in a bid to secure a place in the top five. First, she delivered a stirring rendition of the 1980 Bob Marley classic Redemption Song, which was given a contemporary treatment. Then she fast forward three decades to showcase her versatility with an effortless, pitch-perfect version of Katy Perry’s Unconditionally. Both song,s which were executed with little effort, captivated the audience and judges alike.
On Tuesday, Chin’s interpretation of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song climbed to #15, while her take on Katy Perry’s Unconditionally inched its way up to #33 on iTunes. Her Twitter follower count has increased by hundreds after Clarkson, who has over nine million followers, and Lambert, who has more than 2 million followers, tweeted at her.
