Mona brush aside KC
THIS week was one of the most intense stagings, thus far, as Kingston College and Mona High School came ready for a musical showdown.
But, in the end, Mona contestants’ musical knowledge and crafty stage techniques were just a bit too much for KC.
In the oldies round, Mona did something no other school has done since the start of the competition, going all the way back to Studio One days and still having the young crowd in a frenzy.
The sealer came in the tune-for-tune round when Mona’s mic man, Kevar, said “when I was sending out my applications (for Grade Six Achievement Test), I never applied to KC. You wanna know why I wasn’t interested in going to KC?” and proceeded to play Chi Ching Ching’s Too Many Men. The crowd erupted!
Mona, who is the number one seeded school, will go on to face Haile Selassie in the semi-finals.
This week will be Kingston High vs Kingston Technical High School.
