If pretty people love themselves, are ugly people afraid of the mirror?
Some years ago I read a magazine article which indicated that little babies responded to and were likely to smile at adults with pretty faces, just as they would respond to their mothers. In tests done, said the article, the babies showed some reluctance to respond favourably to those with ‘ugly’ faces in the same setting.
Another bit of research also indicated that, in a school setting, teachers were more likely to respond favourably to the better-looking children in a class. It is more than likely that ‘teacher’s pet’ is a pretty girl or a handsome young fellow, and that extra attention is probably likely to make a teacher’s pet one of the brightest in the classroom.
