New album from deejay Don Yute
VETERAN deejay Don Yute is back on the scene with Different Wurl, an 11-track album released November 29 on iTunes.
Different Wurl has several collaborations, among them Show Me The Way with late reggae singer Jacob Miller, Uh Oh with American hip hop star Pitbull and Different Girls which he did with Half Pint.
“This album shows a different side of dancehall. It’s fresh, yet classic, and all the tracks are clean and can be played anywhere,” said Don Yute.
Different Wurl is co-produced by Rockstone Productions and the Golden Child Music Group.
Don Yute told the Jamaica Observer he has high hopes for his ninth album.
“The aim of this project is to spread the love through my songs. Although I have already made a name for myself, there are still others who don’t know who I am as I don’t have nine platinum albums,” he said.
In addition to the new album, Don Yute is completing a collaboration called Sugar Plum with American rapper DJ Unk which will be released in 2014 by Universal Records.
Don Yute (Jason Williams) had a good run in the 1990s when dancehall was dominated by ‘bad bwoy’ entertainers.
Kingston-born, he was raised in Port Antonio. He released his first song in 1993, the Dave Kelly-produced Loving Excess, a collaboration with Wayne Wonder.
Hardcore and You Own The Man, produced by Steely and Clevie, are two of his more popular songs.
