Reggae renaissance — Keznamdi
Talented, passionate and conscious are just a few words to describe Keznamdi.
The young artiste has released some entertaining and impressionable songs such as She Says and Darkness, which featured fellow upcoming artiste Kabaka Pyramid. His lyrics generally ignite our thoughts and the unique sound is stimulating to the conscience.
Music is definitely in his blood as both parents were a part of a band, Chakula, which meant young Keznamdi would usually accompany them on tours and performances. That his sister Kelissa is on a similar journey to carry contemporary reggae to the people also speaks to music being part of the family’s genetic make-up.
The 27-year-old released his first song Mix A Colour at the age of five on his mother Kerida’s album Save The World, which was inspired by her passion for early childhood education.
“Music chose me,” said Keznamdi, and with an injury setback in football (another of his passions) his career path looked set.
He teamed up with his sister Kelissa on the piece Gideon, which proved to be a successful venture. The fans also loved My Love For You, which featured the exciting Chronixx, another young warrior carrying the baton into the next generation.
Keznamdi has been on tour in America and Jamaica with some powerhouse performances. Take note for this artiste as he is definitely a new face to look out for in contemporary reggae.
