UDC invites proposals for Long Bay beach-park development in Negril
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) on Wednesday issued a request for proposals from interested parties for the acquisition of Long Bay Beach Park Phase 1 and Phase 2 in Negril.
The UDC said the proposals were invited as “as part of its programme for the sustainable development of Jamaica’s tourism industry”.
The corporation is inviting proposals for the lease, development, management, and maintenance of the Long Bay Beach Phase 1 and/or Long Bay Beach Park Phase 2 in Negril, Hanover/Westmoreland.
Long Bay Beach 1 located along Negril’s famous seven-mile white sand beach was developed by the UDC in 1997 “to ensure the provision of adequate public beach facilities in Negril”, according to the corporation’s website.
It then developed the 2.07 hectares Long Bay 2 in 2001 “to complement the existing beach park”, the website said.
The UDC, in inviting proposals, said that the development plan should include a summary of the development concept for the properties; schematic layouts to support the proposed use of the properties; a monetary offer for the acquisition of the properties by way of lease or percentage of revenues; evidence of ability to finance a medium-term lease; evidence of ability to finance the proposed developments; and a timeline for the completion of the proposed developments.
Interested parties have until 3:00 pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 to deposit sealed proposals in the tender box on the ground floor of the UDC’s Office Centre Building in downtown Kingston.
