Vernamfield comes to Knutsford Blvd
THE National Drag Racing Circuit (NDRC) is set to take over Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston, this evening as it prepares to launch its five-meet 2014 season with new title sponsor Nestle Supligen. Action begins at 7 pm.
“There will be demonstration runs, burnouts and cars on display,” Stephen Gunter, NDRC executive member, told Auto.
The upper section of Knutsford Boulevard will be transformed into a mini-drag strip allowing the powerful machines normally limited to Vernamfield’s quarter-mile to show off for the fans in attendance. Racers Andrew McCreath and Charles Maxwell are among those slated to attend.
As well as five racing events for the year, Nestle via Supligen will sponsor the NDRC’s Test and Tune days, held the previous Sundays to assist drivers in setting up their vehicles for competition day.
“I thought of drag racing when looking for a non-traditional niche sport with strong support from the youth/young professional demographic, and we went with the NDRC because of its professional approach in staging drag racing events at Vernamfield,” said Shawna Kidd, consumer marketing manager — dairy of Nestle.
The event will also feature live entertainment along with rides on display from Kingston car club Skunk Nation.
