Jamaica FEI World Dressage winners
THE FEI World Dressage Competition had local equestrians and mounts all formally presented at the Kingston Polo Club and Equestrian Centre recently.
Crista Gore riding her grey mare She’s All That emerged the winner in the Adult Elementary Class with a score of 65.74 per cent just ahead of Susan Wates riding Hannah, and Chrystal Peter on Jiggy.
University of The West Indies student Jason Walter also found a spot on the podium riding Hannah placing first in the Adult Preliminary Class with a score of 68.19 per cent, the highest score for the day.
Sara Misir riding Appeal and Nabila Khouri riding Scarr both ended up with combined scores of 63.62 per cent, with second place being awarded to Misir, based on her higher collective marks and rider position.
American International School of Kingston (AISK) student Claire Schwapp riding Trelawny came out on top in the Junior Preliminary Class scoring 66.47 per cent ahead of Sofia Asher riding Ali Baba in second place, and Rachel Chandley riding J Lo, who placed third.
The FEI is the international governing body for all Olympic equestrian disciplines and administers of the worldwide dressage competition giving less experienced dressage riders who are normally unable to take part in international competitions, the chance to compete internationally without having to leave their own country.
The international officials for the competition were Anders Sucksdorff from Finland and Elke Ebert from Germany. Jamaica participated in Zone 10 which also included Barbados, Bermuda, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago and Cayman Islands, and collectively 99 riders competed within the zone.
Prior to the competition a Jamaican team of three riders were named with Christa Gore, Susan Wates and Claire Schwapp placing fourth in the zone. The final scores will be entered in the World Dressage Challenge which has over 50 participating countries.
