Go Go Train set to roll at Caymanas Park
A downright good, even persuasive, card of nine races with three trophies at stake will highlight the third Sunday of racing spectacle this season at Caymanas Park today.
Headlined by the Jockeys’ Guild Of Jamaica Trophy and additionally well supported by the Al Gopie Memorial Cup and the Talawah Claiming Series (Race #3), the well-rounded card is further enhanced by a competitive Overnight Allowance two-turner.
The Jockeys’ Guild feature, a Restricted Allowance call for native-bred four-year-olds and upward (NW2) for a purse of $480,600, has attracted a mixed field of 12 going 1,400 metres. Post time for the penultimate call on the card is set at approximately 4:50 pm with first post at 1:20 pm.
While a selection will be made it is a race in which almost any number can breast the tape with a number of worthwhile promising but disappointing talents present.
Bunched together it is expected that will come out on top and on recent performances and preparation in some respect, Morning Lily, Water Wave, Gold Rush, Nannytherealthing are among those with a good enough reason to receive serious attention.
However, the disappointing Harry Parsard bred, owned and trained Go Go Train could turn out to be the best prospect of them all. Talented as her dam was, she seems to possess some of the problems that plagued her dam Shaneisha during her racing days that were sporadic but when right was devastating.
However, returning to the races for the first time since her December fiasco, Go Go Train has looked consistent enough in her preparation for her return and should give one of her better performances over a distance she has already conquered in much better company as a two-year-old in a time of 27.4.
