Flow’s free weekend brings fans Game of Thrones action

KINGSTON, Jamaica – On Sunday, April 6, the highly anticipated fourth season of the triumphant original drama series Game of Thrones returns to HBO on Flow Channel 518. Full of the action, adventure and ambition, viewers can look forward to seeing the new developments for favourite characters, as well as to meet new characters in the epic series.

Flow has announced that in addition to hosting a fan experience and viewing party for Game of Thrones on Sunday, all cable service customers will enjoy a free view of HBO this weekend from Friday, April 4 to Sunday April 6.

“Jamaica will join the global audience that will tune in for the season premiere of Game of Thrones as we are doing a number of initiatives to ensure that everyone has a chance to share in the excitement,” said Gail Abrahams, director of corporate communications for Columbus Communications, operator of Flow. “We are hosting a fan experience and screening customers for ho have won tickets by signing up for Flow’s HBO Premium package or participated in quizzes on Flow’s Facebook and Twitter channels. In addition, to give everyone a chance to join the excitement, we are offering a free view weekend of HBO.”

The new season of Game of Thrones introduces a number of new characters. In Episode 1 we meet Oberyn Martell, also known as the Red Viper. Martell is from a region in the south of Westeros called Dorne. He comes to Kings Landing for the Royal Wedding of King Joffrey to Lady Margaery Tyrell. His appearance at the wedding does not bode well for the Lannisters against whom he has a plot of revenge.

Another new character is Mace Tyrell, the father of King Joffrey’s bride, Lady Maraery. Fans may recall most unflattering mention being made of Mace by his mother Lady Olenna Tyrell in Season 3.

A third new character is the Magnar of Thenn, who is a warrior of the Wilding army which is led by Mance Rayder. He is expected to play a major role in the story line of Jon Snow and the conflict between the Wildings and the Nights Watch. Favourite character Snow rises to a leadership role for the Nights Watch in Season 4.

The fortunes or misfortunes of the Stark family following the deaths of Rob, Catelyn and Talisa Stark at last season’s Red Wedding are a major source of interest for fans of the series. One of the questions in this new season is about whether the Starks still hold a place of influence in the Seven Kingdom’s of Westeros. Sensa Stark is now in a political marriage to Tyrion Lannister, arranged by Lannister patriarch Tywin after he discovered the plot to unite the Stark and Tyrell factions by marrying Sansa off to Loras Tyrell. Can Sensa now use the marriage to “the Imp” to the advantage of what’s left of her family?

Across the sea, Mother of Dragons and freer of slaves, Daenerys Targaryen still has her sights firmly set on Westeros, where her father Aerys was once king. Her 3 dragons are older, bigger and more menacing.

Fans can become familiar with all characters and catch up on all 3 seasons of Game of Thrones by watching at their convenience on HBO OnDemand exclusively on Flow Channel 1000.
