PHOTOS: Disabled truck looted on Mt Rosser
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Residents of a section of Mount Rosser had a field day after a truck laden with goods careened off the hill and landed on top of a church Wednesday morning.
According to the driver of the truck, the vehicle developed a mechanical problem and stalled as he negotiated a sharp corner.
“The timing belt broke. I tried to pull up the hand brake but it failed and the truck rolled back very fast,” he said.
By the time the driver could come to his senses, hoards of people descended on the truck and began stripping it of energy drinks, cornflakes and saltfish.
When the police arrived on the scene, the truck was almost empty. The looters even removed two of the wheels and emptied the gas from the tank.
No one was injured in the incident.
