Sav Elite Titans continue impressive start in basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Sav Elite Titans picked up where they left off in the first round of the National Supplies Western Basketball Association Men’s Championships, beating Cornwall Courts Chargers 55-42 at the UWI Western Campus on Tuesday to kick-start their second round schedule.
Damion Gilpin scored 14 points to lead Titans to their seventh straight win, as they led Chargers 14-10, 28-18 and 45-29 at the intervals.
Curtis Anderson also scored 13 points, as Omar Biggs had a game-high 16 points for Chargers.
In the second game played on Tuesday, Granville Wolfpack beat Spartans 47-33, thanks to 16 points and nine rebounds from Ivaughn Lee, and 14 points and seven rebounds from Albert Munroe.
Cornwall Courts are in second place in the points table with 12 points followed by four teams all tied on 11 — Boys’ Club Warriors, Knibb Thunder, Lightning Blitz, and Avalanche; Wolfpack and Muschett Falcons are on 10 points each, while Spartans are next on nine points.
Holland Saints, UWI and MoBay Community College Gladiators are all on eight points each.
