‘Top 1’ aims for top
WHEN it comes to automotive lubricants, the right motor oil is top on the list of every driver. So last year, Island Lubes Distributors Limited brought one of the America’s best — Top 1 Oil — to the local market.
“Honestly, the brand has been received very well in the marketplace. For a new brand, we could not ask for a better reception. The reviews from our customers have been extremely positive and I think a lot has to do with the information age we’re in. We can introduce the brand, but people can now verify everything we tell them for themselves,” John Levy, director of Island Lubes Distributors Limited, told Auto.
Levy said he saw the potential of the product in the local market based on Top 1 Oil’s focus on quality, which it achieves through various methods including significant feedback through participation in motorsport.
Started in California in 1979, the family-owned brand achieved recognition when it was able to achieve a top speed of 518km per hour during a motorcycle land-speed record attempt. Since then the company’s lubricants can now be found in everything from Dakar Rally machines to circuit racing trucks.
Tried and tested under those conditions, Top 1 Oil products cover a wide range of needs in the automotive, commercial and industrial sectors. For the local market regular buyers can be assured that Top 1 Oil has met the approval of several manufacturers such as Audi and Volkswagen.
“We compete with all major lubricant brands in each respective market, and Jamaica is no different. The Jamaican consumer not only deserves a choice, but a choice of the best lubricants available,” said Levy.
