Seetahal’s killer ‘operating with impunity’ for over 4 years — report
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Barbados Nation News on Wednesday reported that the “main man who fired the fatal shots that killed senior counsel Dana Seetahal on Sunday morning has been operating with impunity for more than four years”.Nation News story here.
“Intelligence sources said the Carapo man (name called), who received the call to wipe out Seetahal was ‘not only well connected’ but is also ‘feared in the underworld by many’,” the newspaper said, adding that the information was from a police source.
The Carapo man and two others, one from Curepe, “with the initials NM and the other from Malabar called DB” are reportedly being sought by Trinidadian police for questioning in Seetahal’s killing.
According to the Nation News report the Carapo Man, who, like NM and DB, has ties to a Muslim-based organisation, beat a murder rap in 2011 and was released from jail.
“He has been a major player in bringing in guns and ammunition into this country from Venezuela and one or two other countries,” the Nation News quoted a source as saying.
The newspaper also reported that he had escaped from the Golden Grove prison in 2007 before surrendering to the police months later.
The man is also said to have ordered ammunition from the United States through a relative but since the package arrived at Trinidad’s Piarco International Airport with the illegal ammunition, no one has come to claim it.
Fifty-eight-year old Seetahal was shot and killed on her way home early Sunday after her vehicle was blocked by two others.
