Ainsley Maragh, owner of Sugarman Candy, and Roxanne Dann, a bookkeeper at Mediterranean Shipping Company Cruises (MSC Cruises), tied the knot in a ceremony at the St Jago de la Vega Cathedral in Spanish Town on April 12. Vows shares the couple’s journey to the altar.

The couple met at a party in Hollywood, Florida, and exchanged numbers after a brief conversation. Thus began their love story, filled with mini dates and several trips to Jamaica since that night. Maragh soon realised that Dann was the one and that he needed to get creative with how to pop the question.

After consulting several of her friends for ideas on how he could propose to her, it dawned on him that simply asking for her hand in marriage at one of her favourite places, the beach, was a distinct possibility. During one of their leisurely strolls, Maragh got down on one knee, and told Dann that he could not see his future without her, and asked her to be his wife. Her tear-filled response had selectively invited friends running down the beach to congratulate the couple — a perfectly timed effort by Maragh to make the moment even more special for his then bride-to-be.

Following subsequent months of planning, and the enlisting of the team at Petals and Promises to execute the couple’s dream wedding, the day finally arrived.

Dann stunned in an ivory l’amour satin strapless Maggie Sottero fit-and-flare gown with a corseted back, an asymmetrically draped bodice embroidered with Swarovski crystals and a bubble hem on the train of the gown. Her look was completed with a two-layered fingertip veil with blusher and satin trimming and a hand-tied bouquet of confetti roses, golden astroemerias and orange Vanda orchids. Sporting a tan Lord West double-breasted suit with an ivory-striped tie and confetti rose boutonnière, Maragh looked dapper as he watched his bride glide up the aisle of the St Jago de la Vega Cathedral, escorted by her father.

The bride’s parents, Osmond and Sandra Dann of Osmond Dann and Associates, and the groom’s parents, Son Son’s Wholesale Candy and School Supplies co-owners Harry and Angella Maragh, watched proudly from the front pews of the church throughout the ceremony officiated by Reverend Canon Collin Reid.

Following the nuptials, guests headed to The Beach House in Hellshire, St Catherine, for the burnt orange and brown-themed beachside reception. Gorgeously decorated by Petals and Promises, the venue featured an assortment of centrepieces of manzanita branches with coffee beans, burnt orange carnations and votive candles set on white linens with burnt orange napkins.

The pair performed their first dance as husband and wife to Spend My Life With You by Eric Benét and Tamia ahead of slicing into their three-tier lychee cake by Ma Cherie — covered in white fondant, topped with orange sugar tulips placed diagonally on the corner of each tier trimmed with brown fondant and brown scrolling — designed by the bride and graphic artist Kevin Campbell.

The Florida-based couple are planning to spend their honeymoon in Tahiti later this year, but they have told Vows that they are planning a series of mini honeymoons starting with a cruise.
