AFTER performing at Reggae on the Beach in Barbados late last month, reggae singer Raine Seville used the opportunity to shoot the video for her singles Bajan Wuk and So Wi Roll.

Bajan Wuk is a collaboration with Barbados dancehall/soca artiste Brutal Crankstar and produced by Craigmatic Productions.

“Bajan Wuk is just a sexy adult song that is becoming a favourite among the Bajan fans,” Raine explained.

According to the singer, So we Roll is a counteraction to Brutal Crankstar’s single Badman Nuh Lip.

The singer has also changed her tune , and last week released her soca track Brace Back, a production of Barbados’ John Doe.

“While the season has ended in Jamaica and some other Caribbean Islands, Barbados will come alive in July and August with Cropover. Therefore this single was done for their season,” she said.

Raine said she has had a passion for music for as long as she can remember. In 2004, she enrolled as a part-time student at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

Three years later she inked a deal with DASECA music camp and released songs like Drive Me Crazy. She later released several collaborations like Crying Out for Peace with Serani, Reserve with Bugle, Nutten Na Gwan with Wasp and Mentally Ill with Vybz Kartel.

“I’ve had a genuine love for music ever since primary school. However, my parents thought it was best to get the right education before pursuing the music,” she said.

After parting ways with DASECA, the 28-year-old has recorded songs like Sekkle Dung featuring Konshens, Mad Dem, Always Bruk and Why Would You.

Not neglecting school Raine has accomplished much, as she holds a Bachelor’s degree with honours in Marketing/International Business from the University of Technology.
