LOCAL automotive glossy Jamaica Tuner launched their newest endeavour, Dyno Day, at the A-Bar Restaurant & Lounge, Springs Plaza in St Andrew, recently.

“Our magazine will be hosting the first ever local organised dyno competition,” Denton Lewis, chief editor Jamaica Tuner, told Auto.

For the uninitiated, dyno is short for dynometer, a device used to measure horsepower of a vehicle and is used extensively to fine-tune changes made due to engine modifications.

Jamaica Tuner’s Dyno Day is scheduled for June 22 to be held at McGann’s Auto, located on Dunrobin Avenue in Kingston. The event will run from midday to 5:00 p.m. Admission, as well as competitor entry, is free. However, entries are limited to a maximum of seven per the four classes.

Cars will attempt to outdo each other by producing the most horsepower in Front-Wheel Drive Street, Front-Wheel Drive Pro Race, Four/Rear-Wheel Drive. The latter class is divided into two with a target of 600hp and the other all-out horsepower.

“This event concept has been very popular abroad and we believe it would be successful here in Jamaica, given the recent resurgence in import performance,” he added.

Apart from bragging rights, the prizes are to be announced.

The event’s winners will be featured in the following issue of Jamaica Tuner Magazine.
