Gore gives to Amy Muschett
DUNCANS, Trelawny
GORE Developments Limited has donated $1million towards the renovation of the roof at Amy Muschett Home for the Aged in this parish.
Representatives of Gore Developments Limited handed over the cheque to board members of the facility Monday morning.
Morris Stewart, chairman of the board and Custos of Trelawny Paul Muschett — whose ancestors donated the property over 50 years ago — expressed appreciation to the housing development company for its timely gift.
“I must tell you it is greatly appreciated and I know that it has come at a time when we need it most. We want to thank God for Gore for having come to our rescue,” Stewart said.
In response, Janice Wilson of Gore Developments Limited said that the company was committed not only to constructing houses, but also to assisting in “building the quality of lives in the communities surrounding their housing developments”.
Despite the challenging economic climate, the Amy Muschett Home for the Aged Home has continued to provide a haven for the elderly. The Home, which also offers a day care service, welcomes all elderly persons who are self-reliant.
Monday’s donation wasn’t Gore’s first in terms of corporate social repsonsibility in Trelawny. During the construction of the over-800 house Florence Hall, for example, the company partnered with Usain Bolt to renovate and refurbish the cafeteria at William Knibb Memorial High School.
In terms of housing solutions, Gore is currently building Coral Spring Village in the parish, which is another 500 homes.
