Stephenson declared new KSAFA president
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Stewart Stephenson is the new president of the powerful Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) after defeating incumbent Rudolph Speid 42-36 at their Annual General Meeting Voting Congress today.
Stephenson, a lawyer by profession and Jamaica’s ambassador to Cuba from 2002-04, is a long-time member of Real Mona FC.
The two have been embroiled in a contentious run-in to the election, arguing on policies relating to fund-raising, club development as well as compensation and prize awards for clubs. Both parties have also disagreed on how the election process was being handled and contention had been rampant over the adherence to the constitution.
