Tortuga Jamaica widens reach in UK market
IN a push to expand into new markets, Tortuga Jamaica last week announced that it has widened its exports into the UK by forming a wholesale relationship with Jamaica Patty Company (JPC).
Located in the heart of London at 26 New Row, Covent Garden, the Jamaican restaurant and retail store will feature the most popular Tortuga Rum Cake flavours including chocolate, coconut, Blue Mountain coffee, and the original Golden Tortuga Rum Cakes.
“We are encouraged by the placement of Tortuga Rum Cakes on the menu and the shelf at the Jamaica Patty Company in Covent Garden,” a news release quotes Monique Hamaty-Simmonds, Tortuga International Holdings, Ltd’s chief marketing officer. “Tortuga continues to execute on our broader vision to open new markets and channels, and we believe our relationship with JPC will only support this initiative.”
Jamaica Patty Company, the release explained, was founded in 2013 with the aim of bringing high-quality Jamaican foods to the UK.
“Frustrated by her inability to find the flavours and aromas of straight-from-the-oven patties in London, Jamaican-born entrepreneur Theresa Roberts decided to launch Jamaica Patty Company in order to give UK consumers the opportunity to enjoy the fresh flavours of Jamaica,” the news release said.
Tortuga Jamaica said it has plans of expanding into new UK markets, which will provide it with the opportunity to introduce new customers to the Tortuga brand. In addition, retailers and brands such as JPC will increase awareness and exposure to travellers from all over Europe and the USA.
