BOGUS tickets for the upcoming three-day music festival, Soul in the Sun, have already hit the streets ahead of the legitimate ones.

The event is scheduled for The Aqueduct in Rose Hall, just outside Montego Bay — former home to the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival — on October 10 – 12.

Junior Taylor, producer of the festival, is warning would-be patrons not to purchase tickets at this time, as no official tickets are yet on the market.

“We are currently offering early-bird tickets via our website, but when you purchase online you are not issued a ticket but rather a receipt. Pre-sold tickets go on sale come September 1. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I heard that unscrupulous persons were selling tickets to unsuspecting persons,” said Taylor.

The show will feature a galaxy of R&B hit makers from the 1980s and ’90s including Peabo Bryson, Regina Belle, Jeffrey Osborne, Freddie Jackson, Howard Hewitt, Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, Dru Hill and Silk.

According to Taylor, patrons who attend will witness some amazing collaborations among the artistes, many of whom tour together.

“We are seeking to create a really intimate event inside the picturesque venue. It is truly meant to be a time for couples, but everyone who loves the music of the period is invited to come along. One or two local acts will be added to each night; we are currently in discussions and cannot confirm at this time.”

Taylor added that Montego Bay was chosen as the location due to its ability to offer that getaway feel for Jamaicans and visitors alike.

He also noted that the organisers thought long and hard about the date for the festival and in consultation with the Jamaica Tourist Board arrived at October 10-12, which coincide with the Thanksgiving Day celebrations in Canada, and Columbus Day in the United States.

The live performances at the festival will take place on the first two nights with the final event being a beach party on Sunday, October 12.
