How they met, as told by the groom’s brother and best man Kwesi Falconer…

Kwame came to visit me in Washington while I was studying. He was intrigued not only by the fact that I had a female roommate but also that since his visit he had not even glimpsed her.

She finally came out for something from the kitchen. Like most women Shani liked to be comfortable around the house; wearing shorts and a tank top. Needless to say, I had to pick my brother’s mouth off the floor.

They were introduced and let’s just say that my brother’s visits became more frequent. Please note that Kwame, who had prior to that first meeting visited me once in two years, was now visiting every six months and kept saying how much he liked Shani.

The Courtship:

Shani went on to further her studies in Spain but wanted to do an internship in Jamaica, so knowing how my brother felt I was like, sure, of course. I made sure to add to that a little ATI party weekend and the only accommodation available was at the same villa my brother was staying and, as they say, the rest is history.

Here Comes The Bride…

The bride, clutching a bouquet of green hydrangeas, green cymbidium orchids, purple and blue orchids with hints of green berries delightfully wrapped up in a turquoise ribbon, made a breathtaking statement in a Sottero & Midgley strapless ball gown with billowing ruched satin bodice that transitioned to a formidable display of tulle and organza layered swirls complete with a diamond tiara. She made her way up the aisle on the arm of proud dad Hugh to the soulful strains of John Legend’s All Of Me. The groom stood dapper in a Carlton Brown signature tux.

It was now time for The Rev Egbert Harvey to take the couple through their marriage rites and vows in an enchanting peacock-inspired jewel tones setting created by Tai Flora Luxe which was further enhanced by the gorgeous shoreline and lovely, afternoon sunshine.

The Reception:

The cocktail hour and reception took place against the ruins of the idyllic and historic Aqueduct, with Blue Sky Grass band on entertainment duties.

Trinidadian and Jamaican food stations by Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards multi-award-winning caterer Debe-Ann Chen had guests raving about the fare all evening long.

Happily Ever After

The couple spent the first night of their honeymoon at Half Moon, A RockResort before jetting out on Sunday morning to The Bahamas.
