Docu-flick on St Croix’s reggae scene
ESCAPE To St Croix is the title of a documentary looking at the vibrant reggae scene in the United States Virgin Islands.
Produced by French company Reggaescape, it has interviews with leading players in those territories including Pressure Busspipe, Bambu Station, Army, Dezarie and Reemah.
Also included is the band Midnite, led by talented songwriter/guitarist Vaughn Benjamin.
Escape To St Croix tracks the growth and influence of reggae in the USVI over the last decade.
Pressure Busspipe, a singer from St Thomas, is the most popular of the USVI acts among Jamaicans. He had a big hit song in 2007 with Love and Affection.
He released his fourth album, The Sound, in April in St Andrew. It was produced by Zion I Kings, an emerging company based in St Croix that has worked with Jamaican acts like Lutan Fyah and Jah9.
