Come Dance With Me in impressive jig
Come Dance With Me has sent a signal to her peers. The signal is that she is fast and even at this early stage she has class.
With the efficient Percival Williams on board, Come Dance With Me (Blue Pepsi Lodge — Soca Dancer by Dance Master) racing over five and a half furlongs, the longest distance to be raced thus far by the ‘young ones’, the chestnut filly flew from the gates and just kept going further and further away from her rivals.
Come Dance With Me beat the nicely bred bay colt Ali Baba (Fearless Vison — Ahwhofah by Royal Minister) with Dick Cardenas up, by seven-and-a-half lengths with Kesteen (O’Brien White aboard) another eight-and-a-quarter lengths adrift in third. The winning time of 1:06:2 minutes on a fairly wet track was very impressive for a two-year-old to be running the first time of asking. Ali Baba is the first foal for the 2007 1000 Guineas winner Ahwhofah to race.
According to her trainer Dwight Chen, Come Dance With Me still looks very green but he is happy with the filly’s victory.
“With a two-year-old running for the first time anything can happen, but based on her preparations coming into the race I was very confident in her chances of winning this race.
“The time was very good although the track is fast, but she was running green and will definitely improve from here on,” Chen told the Complete Racing Guide shortly after the race.
